Quickstart
What do I need to trade on Max Orion?
Two things:
- A wallet. Either an EVM wallet extension such as MetaMask, or an email address or Google account — signing in with either creates a wallet for you and you never see a seed phrase.
- USDT in your perpetual wallet. USDT is the only asset accepted, and only the perpetual wallet backs positions.
How do I connect?
-
Open Trade from the top bar and click Connect.
-
Choose how to sign in:
- Email or Google. Type your email and press Continue, or press the Google logo. Your wallet signs everything itself, so no pop-up asks you to approve anything, and you are done after this step. The first time you sign in by email on a new device, Magic may also ask you to approve that device from your mailbox.
- MetaMask. Press the MetaMask logo and go on to step 3.
-
Approve the MetaMask pop-ups. If this browser already holds a live agent for your wallet, only the first appears and the row shows no step count. Otherwise there are two, and the MetaMask row in the dialog counts them:
- Step 1 of 2 signs you in. It proves you control the address and creates your trader record.
- Step 2 of 2 enables trading. It authorises an agent: a key held by this browser that signs your orders from then on, so no pop-up interrupts an order. See Agents.
Neither costs anything: no gas, no transaction. The dialog closes when the last one is signed.
If a pop-up is rejected or closed
- You reject the first pop-up. The dialog goes back to the sign-in choices. Press the MetaMask logo to start again.
- You reject the second pop-up. Press Try again in the MetaMask row.
- You close the dialog after signing in, before enabling trading. You are connected but cannot place an order yet. The order ticket's button reads Establish connection: press it to enable trading. It asks for the same signature as step 2.
How do I fund my perpetual wallet?
- Open Portfolio and click Deposit. Choose the network you are sending from, then send USDT to the address shown — with its memo, if the network shows one. A deposit lands in your main wallet. Deposits are invite-only for now: if your wallet is not approved yet, join the waitlist from the same screen.
- Click Transfer and move USDT from your main wallet to your perpetual wallet. Transfers are instant and internal — no chain transaction and no fee.
A balance sitting in the main wallet cannot back a position. See Portfolio for the details of a deposit.
Send only USDT, only on the network you chose, and at least the minimum the address screen shows. Funds sent on another network, or below the minimum, are not credited and are not returned.
How do I place an order?
- On Trade, choose a market from the market selector.
- Choose Limit or Market.
- Press Leverage and set it for this market. It is saved when you press Set, and applies to every order you place on that market afterwards.
- Enter a size, or press Max. Before you commit, the ticket shows the order value and the liquidation price the position would open at, and above the button your max buy or max sell for that market.
- Click Buy / Long to go long, or Sell / Short to go short.
How do I track the position?
The position appears in the table under the chart and on Portfolio, with unrealized PnL marked against the mark price. Close it in full or in part from either row, or attach a take profit and stop loss to close it automatically.
